Ancient historic monuments are framed by deep gorges, memorial places are alternated by magnificent waterfalls. Mountains everywhere, surrounding you wherever you look. North Ossetia is a republic with unique ancient culture, amazing picturesque nature and hospitable locals.
The first point of the quad tour is visiting the Alania St. Assumption monastery. Meeting this stone giant, you wonder if it has been here forever. In fact, its history started in 2000. The best views of the canyon, mountains, and the turbulent river open from Fiagdon viewing platform, a point following the monastery down the route.
We will encounter the ancient culture of the Republic at the Alania watchtowers. Made for combat, for living, as castles and rock fortresses, monuments of Ossetian architecture were being erected over several centuries. Its beauty and history are worth looking into.
Another landmark of the tour is the Dargavs "necropolis". From afar, Dargavs resembles a regular aul or fortress; but as you approach it, the settlement will not meet you with the sound of voices or children's laughter. However, finding a human skull and bones here is not a rarity. You can ask a local guide about the true purpose of the necropolis.
North Ossetia-Alania is home for beautiful, but also terrible stories. Part of the quadratour will pass through the Karmadon canyon, where the tragedy of 2002 has taken many lives and the entire film crew of Sergey Bodrov.
Throughout the entire custom tour around the North Ossetia, you will be treated with the dishes of national Caucasian cuisine, accommodated in a guesthouse with celebrated local hospitality, and accompanied by a team of professional guides.
